Blood bubble in eye from a punch

Blood bubble in eye from a punch

My friend got punch in his right eye two days ago. He didn't see if the guy who punched him had an object in his hand. His eye is completely inflamed and purple. The worst part of it, is that in the bottom of his eye near the eyelid (about 8 mm) he has a huge bubble of blood. We went to the doctor yesterday and he assured his sight is ok and the bubble does not seem to be affecting it. However this bubble keeps growing (we don't know if this is because the injury is recent) but it does not look good. We're traveling in Thailand and what the doctors gave to my friend to treat his eye were: eye - drops for possible infections and pills for the inflamation (inflammation) and the pain. They also gave him an eye oilment to clean his eye four times a day. The question is about the buble of blood, according to the doctors here it will slowly decrease its size until is gone. But we want to know if we should consider draining this bubble (getting it popped) or if we should follow the advise given by the Thai doctors.

Thank you very much and please help us with some advice.

About the description that I wrote above. Made a mistake. It's not that the bubble is 8mm from his eyelid, it is that the bubble itself (its size) is about 8mm. I also forgot to mention that he wears lenses and the day of the punch he was wering lenses. The doctor didn't find it in the eye yesterday when he examined him but we don't know where the lens is.

I'm having a hard time visualizing where the blood bubble is. Is it on the white of the eye? inside the eye? in the eyelid?

Can you take a picture and post on the web?

If you mean he wears contact lens if his vision is blurry like when the contact lens is not in the eye chances are it was knocked off the eye.

I had something simular in my eye after hitting a tree branch on a bike.  It went away after two weeks.  I did go to the doctor and he recommended sun glasses.
