Bloodshot corner of eye, have had for over a year now

Basically, I have bloodshot corner in my right eye, its been there for over a year now.. I asked my optician about it a while ago and he just said its most likely I strain cause his eye scan thing showed nothing.. But how could eye strain last over a year?
