Blue/grey sclera

Blue/grey sclera

My 18 month old has a darkening blue/grey tint in the inside and outside corners of both eyes on the sclera.  I cannot see this when she is looking straight on, but as she shifts her eyes to the sides it is apparent.  It seems well demarcated from the white portion of the sclera and the grey portion covers the same area on both eyes.  I am planning a Ped Opthamology appt.  Can this be a normal finding?  She has had no issues/medical problems since birth.  Thank you.

What you are describing is almost always normal for infants and is due to the white of the eye (sclera) being thin and showing the blue layer underneath the sclera (choroid). Localized as it is it is not correct to call it blue sclera which is diffuse change.
