Hello, I had a full eye exam beginning of July 2019. The Ophthmologist did the eye drops, as well as a dye to check for corneal scratches or something for suspected Dry Eye.
I actually went in their with complaints about tearing and a possible eye infection, which has nothing to do with the interior of the eye, but it seems these Ophthmologists want to make money doing unnecessary procedures.

I have been reading my Samsung tablet and ipad for YEARS and I know exactly what I can and can't read up close, especially when I'm reading it in bed constantly.

After the eye exam, of course my eyes were super super blurry. But even days after I noticed I had blurry vision up close. I literally had to hold my tablet about a foot and half away from my face. I had NEVER experienced that before.
I now have blurred near vision closer than about 16 inches. The closer you get to my eyes, it gets blurrier and blurrier.
I phoned the office of the Ophthmologist, and they said they had never heard of such a thing. Thing is, I am on pretty strong heart medication, with who knows what kinds of side-effects. But none-the-less, they should have known that, as I told them what medz I was taking during the appointment.
It has now been 2 MONTHS, and my eyes are still blurred up close.
The secretary also did the typical "oh no, you probably blah blah, you probably strained your eyes reading so close, blah blah" -- basically trying to say it's something i did, or my eyes were always like that. Basically trying to Gaslight me, and not believe what I was saying. It just comes across as disrespectful.

I would say they do need to look into the side effects of the drops. I have no idea what they used on me.
I don't wear glasses, and am only 48 years old.
As I said, I know exactly what I can read up close, and how far. I was reading my tablet for YEARS with no problems, and everything was super sharp, until after that appointment.
These eye exams absolutely have permanent side effects!
Request an exam with no eye drops.
Never put 100% trust into doctors.

I want to add to my comment, that maybe most people who go see Ophthmologists already have blurry eyes, or glasses, etc, so maybe there have been other people effected by the drops, but because they already had problems with their eyes to begin with, and didn't notice.
I had no vision problems at all until the Dr.s visit.
You have presbyopia like other 48 year olds:   LINKS  https://www.aao.org/eye-health/diseases/what-is-presbyopia  and https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/presbyopia/symptoms-causes/syc-20363328.     It will get worse as you get older, it's not the drops, it's your age. That's why they sell reading glasses at the drug  and department store.

I have had the same issue. It is like my eyes never fully recovered from the drops. I have asked my eye doctor about it a few times over the past 2 years since it happened, and he states that there has been no reports of issues, and that it was just a coincidence. I'm thinking maybe the reason it hasn't been reported is due to doctors ignoring it due to there not being other reports?

Of course you are welcome to think whatever you wish. The facts are however that even the longest acting dilation drops (atropine 1%) which is not used for routine eye exams has worn off and been metabolized in 2-3 weeks.  If you note the above posting was 8 HOURS after dilation.  There are literally hundreds of millions of people that have been dilated and not a single one of them is the medication still around 2 years later.  In very rare instances in abnormal eyes dilation can provoke an attack of angle closure glaucoma but that is a dramatic syndrome with severe pain, blurred vision, redness, etc.
