Blurred vision, after images, only strange.

Blurred vision, after images, only strange.

When I move my hand or something moves while I'm looking at it (not like TV, but like physical objects), I sometimes see that thing blurring. For example, while wearing black jeans, I moved my hand over my thigh. For whatever reason I'd been looking at my hand, and I could see the physical hand moving, but it seems almost that my hand smears, then collects itself and the shadow-thing rejoins the rest of my hand.

Also, I lose depth perception if I'm looking at a flat, textured surface. If I stare at a wall--particularly a tiled wall--suddenly I can't tell how far away it is from me and I have to reach out and physically touch it.

I have lazy eye, and from what we can tell my eye doctor is thinking it's "acting up" (except he's confused because he says lazy eye doesn't just act up). I haven't spoken to him about the blurring/afterimages/whatever they are or the depth perception loss. But recently my contacts prescription has been all over the place--in a period of 3 months, my prescription moves 2-3 points, then three months later it's somewhere in the middle, and three months after that it's changed again. He mentioned my asking my medical doctor to schedule me for a CAT scan just in case, but I'd had one a few years prior and it was normal, and when I mentioned the possibility of another to my doctor, she said my eye problems were probably a result of my birth control. However, I haven't been on the birth control for a few weeks now and the blurring has come back.

I also get floaters and have since I was a child, if that helps anything.

I would suggest that you see a neuro-ophthalmologist. There is a name for that slow, smeared, not catching up type of vision but right now it escapes me. We have discussed this before on the forum.  Find an Eye MD neuroophthalmolgist at www.aao.org

The name is palinopsia (trails, afterimages).  I've got it, along with floaters, sensitivity to sound, and a lot of pain.  It's like my senses are on overdrive.  Possible migraine is what I'm looking into now.
