Blurred vision after cataract surgery

I am a 55 yo.  I had cataract surgery 6 weeks ago w a "near" vision mono focal IOL. This was done Bc my night vision was poor. My near and intermediate vision prior
To surgery was perfect. I only needed glasses for driving. I never took my glasses out of the car. The surgeon said he could keep my vision like it was prior to the surgery and just improve my night vision. That's not been the case
Now my day vision is even blurry even near.  My near vision isn't as good now as prior to the surgery. My main problem though is beyond my computer distance everything is distorted. When I walk up the stairs I see varying dimensions of good vision then blur. If I'm in a store I alternate blurred w ok vision depending on where I look. I cannot deal w this. It's crippling me. I sought a 2nd opinion and he said my refraction is off and may improve over the next 60 days. If not he will perform some type of lasik surgery. I've been fitted w temporary multi focal contacts and even that doesn't help. Why is my vision still blurred. Can it get better wo further surgery? Is this atypical? What exactly can be done to correct vision. I'm very disappointed so far. I would like that lens removed as I feel it constantly and my vision is distorted in that left eye. I refuse to have the OD done at this time and my 2nd opinion dr said he wouldn't touch the right cataract bc it was small. The dr who performed my surgery was going to do the OD.

Great article. I didn't know about mini mono vision. I'm seeking a 3rd opinion. It's not as simple a process as I had thought. Hopefully I'll get it worked out. Thank u

Yes your concerns and complaints/problems are common. use the search feature and archives and you will see many people with post cataract problems. Of course this forum attracts unhappy people with problems. Cataract surgery is generally low risk and patients extremely happy.

Please read this article carefully as it will help you understand some of your problems:  http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/1648102/Consider-ALL-the-Options-Before-Your-Cataract-Surgery-Working-Through-Whats-Best-For-You

You will probably want to get a 3rd and even 4th opinion before you remove the IOL as it may only compound the problem.
