Blurred vision and image shadows after reading

I'm having blurred vision and image shadows after reading and doing computer work.   If I do not "squint" everything is blury.  When I go to drive the traffic lights are double but not next to each other it is where the light will appear and then the same color light will appear right under it.  Eye drops help a bit  and after closing my eyes for a couple hours things get back to normal.  Any ideas what's causing the issue?  Thanks.

Your problem could be a matter of needing glasses or that your glasses are no longer correct. Or you could have eye disease of the cornea, lens, macula. You should see an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.geteyesmart.org

Larry, please let us know if your eye doctor has any insight (so to speak) into this problem.

Yes you need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist not a non-MD, non-physician optometrist.

I recently updated my glasses and there was no indication of eye disease.  The optometrist  tested for dry eye, which indicated that tear production is below normal.  He gave me some eye drops but they haven't solved the problem.   I'll request my primary doctor for a referal to an eye MD.  Thanks for your thoughts.
