Bright Rings With Eyes Closed

For the past 2 days I have been seeing a brightly colored ring when I close my eyes (with my left eye only). It's the type of bright ring you would see if you looked at a bright light then shut your eyes. The problem is, I've been seeing it for 2 days now, and it occurs even when I blink. It's very noticeable and distracting when I'm reading or looking at the computer screen.
I've never had this happen before and wonder if it's a symptom of something that needs attention.

Yes it needs attention. It could represent a blockage of the veins or arteries in the retina, a blood clot to the eye, swelling of the macula, or other serious problem.

You need to see an  Eye MD ASAP (call tomorrow and ask to be seen as an emergency). You can go to www.aao.org and find one near you.

Yes it needs attention. Before my surgery for Retina Detachment I had the same simptoms. Run to the emergency, Please.
