Bright Spots in Vision Field

by KevinBo, Dec 15, 2008 09:44PM
Wow , and I thought i was the only person in the world with this problem. I have had the Bright spots in my vision since i was 10 years old and i am 42 now. I see the bright spot which appears in my vision field and is almost like a blind spot that is white. It Lasts from about 20mins to several days. The brighter it is outside the longer i percieve it. I also have the typical visual disturbance associated with migraines. I have had many eye tests over the years and they have all been normal. But when these occur they are scary still! Doen't seem to be permanent though they always eventually go away. Sunglasses help a lot. Is there a Name for this Phenomena , is it Sheerer's? I wish i knew.

From just a statistical standpoint the most common thing that would cause that is a completely painless ophthalmic migraine.

I also have the typical visual disturbance associated with migraines.

Please, let me know what exactly this visual disturbance is?

This forum is not about "exactly".  Even in person physicians can often not tell exactly what the cause is. Without examining you all we can do is suggest likely possiblities.

Use the search feature and archives to read about "eye migraines"  "Ocular migraines" and TIA and transient ischemic attacks. That will cover the possibilities.

You need to see an Eye MD find one at www.aao.org
