This old thread seems to contain several people who experience exactly the same problem that I am experiencing - none of them seem to have a diagnosis: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/307669
An MRI was negative. The optic nerves seemed fine.
Has anyone with this problem actually received a working diagnosis? I'd be happy to hear more from the people in the thread. Are there any suggestions from a medical professional how to continue or any ideas. My doctor wants me to wait and see, but it's not likely that this will go away since it has been unchanged for so long. I'd also like to understand the triggering event (I was very stressed the week the blind spotBirthmarks - pigmented Liver spots Measles, koplik spots - close-up Mongolian blue spots first appeared, could be related) so I can avoid doing it again.
More info: the blind spot is almond shaped with a small hole of vision in its lower right corner. The CSR blister I mentioned above was at approximately 5 o clock which would correspond to where I see the blind spot (11 o clock), but it's gone now and was very small, so it might never have caused any of the issue at all.
The spot is bluish/brownish in color (except when I blink when it seems bright) and I see it in darkness as well with eyes open and closed. In darkness it especially steals my attention since it is a different color than the black around me and because it flickers. I'm not sure but I think it has started to flicker more lately, since I notice it more.
Similarly to some posters in the thread I mention above I find myself blinking against the sky to check if the spot is still there.
In the mornings the spot seems to have more of a well defined outline, but as soon as I get out of bed and start moving around it gets less well defined and more fuzzy.
Any ideas of how to proceed or probable diagnoses would be much appreciated. I'm scaring myself with thoughts like micro attacks of MS etc.
Doctor, please explain the significance of your replies containing only dashes "-"? I've tried to look for it in the forum rules but am unable to find anything.
