Burnt/Surgical Eye Feeling...

I awoke the other morning, and proceeded to my restroom, I patted some cool water on my face, to wake up. Within just a few moments, suddenly & abruptly, (and this is the only way I can describe the feeling), EXACTLY along the crease of both eyelids, yet underneath my lids, it felt as though someone had just severly burnt me, and/or taken a laser/or scapel, (while awake) & had slit along the length of the crease of both eyelids, but as I said, from underneath...without stitching it up, and then put water on it. I could not tell if the burnt pain was actually the underneath "eyelids", or the eye/socket itself, that followed the exact length of the crease of the under eyelid. (Hope that made sense)

It literally felt as though I had just been severly burnt/slit, by something as I stood there. Imagine being in surgey wide awake...no local aneststhics, no numbing...nothing...then something burnt/slit you there. They didnt stitch you up and then they splashed water on the fresh burnt/slit area.

I have a very, very high pain tolerance...but this was strange and unbearable. I went back intot he restroom and put some more cool water on my eyes. The feeling lasted for approx 15 minutes, then stopped as suddenly as it started.

Any ideas?

I have NEVER had any eye surgery in my life. I am nearsighted and wear glasses.

Thank you for the fast reply/advice John C  Hagan lll, MD FACS.
I am due for my yearly eye exam, so I will mention this to my OD Doctor.

I have one other question for you, as starnge as it may sound....would/could this also possibly have anything to do as a result of close contact with radiation and/or a high electro-magnetic field?

Your problem could be 'recurrent corneal erosision" use the search feature and read about the condition and its treatments. See an Eye MD and tell they you think you may have recurrent corneal erosions.
