Can Stress Bring On Pink Eye?!@#$

Our family has been fighting pink eye since january.  it is now august.  We may go several weeks with no signs, but then it returns!  We have been on drops, 2 different kinds, and we are so paranoid about it now that our hands are dry, cracked and bleeding from all the hand washing.  I have noticed that the last 2 outbreaks my wife has had coincide with very stressful days she has at work.  And I am wondering, if stress can cause pink eye to return.  does that mean its still in her system somewhere?  when will our lives go back to normal?  when will pink eye not be a daily hassle for us?  we have seen 3 different doctors and do not know what to do.

please help.

Thank you for your suggestion.  We picked up some Occusoft foam cleaner tonight.  We will give it a try.

Try using either Occusoft foam eyelid cleaner or TheraTears SteriLid foam eyelid cleaner. Both are available without a RX and sterilize the lids where germs live.

Thank you for writing.  We did see a specialist, and he swabbed her eye, and said it was strepdecaukus (sp) STREP Virus.  He represcribed some drops to help make sure it didnt also become a bed for a bacterial infection, and it went away.  for a while.

But now its back for what must be the 5 or 6th time since January.  Her opthalmologist prescribed her Azasite, but at this point, I wonder if we will ever be clear of this, or if every day we wake up we will worry for that first couple of seconds, that one of us has it again.

That's very very unusual unless you were affected by a adenovirus infection which can become chronic.
