Can a -0.75 see perfectly from a -1.50?

Hey i got my eyes checked not that long ago (4months ago) and my right eye is 0.75 and my left is -0.50. The other day i tried on my friends glasses who is a -1.50 and everything became like 20/20. I'm wondering has my vision deteriorated to -1.50 now?
A friend of mines said cause i'm young (18) i can probably see clearly at all distances in glasses that are -0.75 stronger than you need and that i can accommodate enough to see clearly with glasses that are too strong. Is this true?
