Can glaucoma lead to cataracts?

I have cataracts and think I have symptoms of glaucoma. I'm wondering if the glaucoma could have caused the cataract?

Glaucoma and cataracts both occur with increasing frequency as we age. The most common type of glaucoma (primary open angle glaucoma) does not cause cataracts.

If you think you have "symptoms of glaucoma" you should see a medical eye physician (Ophthalmologist or Eye MD) for a baseline glaucoma examination. This would include a series of special tests not normally part of a 'regular' eye examination. (visual field, gonioscopy, optic nerve photographs, corneal thickness measurement and perhaps OCT (optical coherence tomography).
