Can severe Eye Laceration be treated?

Dear sir,
My nephew was involved in a motorcycle accident last week Monday. The impact on his left eye resulted in laceration at the back of his eye which covered almost 50% of his eyeball. I was told that most of the contents of his eyeball was expelled.

The Opthalmic surgeons managed to sew back his eyeball. The optic nerves doesn't seem to be affected, but the prognoss was that he will be blinded and his condition is totally irreversible.

Is there any chance that there are techniques, procedures or new technology that may assist him to regain at least partial sight on his left eye.

Thank you.

Not very likely.  It sounds like the retina was damaged.
