Can the macular hole reopen?

by jan17, Nov 15, 2008 12:44PM
I have had several visits to the Retina Specialist after macular hole surgery in Feb. and each time I was told the hole was closed but a recent visit had a different twist as the Dr. stated she wasn't sure if the hole was still closed because there were some changes. How can this happen and what type of test should I request for verification of the hole closure?

Have the doctor show you the old and new OCT scans and explain to you exactly what is going on.  It should be clearly visible to everyone on the scan.

Unfortunately, we don't have access to an OCT scan in this area. We travel 6 hours to the clinic that performed the surgery, which is also well equipped with all the updated eye equipment. Is there another test that could be done?
