Can you give my mom some respite from "WEEPING EYE"?

Hi

First of all I would like to offer my sincere gratitude, for lending your precious time to emanate the common man of his sufferings.

The ailment which I am going to narrate, involves my "mother". She had been a victim of weeping eye now for a decade. It all started when occasionally tears rolled down her cheeks. She used to wipe them off, as when they rolled down. We have consulted many opthalmologists in this context, and they had come up with vivid solutions. Some prescribed medicines, while others offered a treatment in which something was pricked in her eyes. Despite of all the treatments she couldn't heave a sigh of respite.

Some doctors advised her a surgery, while others depicted sheer paranoia about the same, citing various incidents where surgeries were a total flop show. The only view which seemed to be in consensus was that she had acquired no infection in her eyes, despite of the time elapsed. Now the problem seem to devour her other eye too, and of late her right eye is showing the same symptoms. Of late she had been complaining of blur in her eyes, probably when her eye is filled with tears. Her cheeks has to bear the repercussions of the same, as they are bruised because of the repeated wiping's.

Sir/Madam I am in sheer disdain, unable to dispel the dark clouds hovering on her/us. I would be very grateful to you if you would enlighten me with your valuable advice and help me in eradicating the same completely. Please help me in emancipating her from this traumatic which has been haunting her now for a decade.

Dear tusharchakravorty,

I would recommend that your mom seek the care of an eyeMD specializing in oculoplastic surgery.  Usually, an infection in the lacrimal sac will cause scarring and blockage of the outflow path, resulting in tears running down one’s face.  This is known as epiphora.  If the infection is treated and the symptoms persist and affect the quality of her life, she might want to undergo surgery.  An oculoplastic surgeon should be able to assist her.
