Castro oil as eye drops

Hi I just want clarification from an eye specialist if using castor oil as eye drops will cause any harm. Unknowingly approx. 10 years back I used it for an eye irritation( due to dust) remedy and I felt very comfortable. It didn't cause me any problem later. I searched the Internet for any such information to find if I did anything wrong but didn't find any reference to castor oil and its use as eye drops.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

It's not very toxic and if it was 10 years ago forget it and don't do it again.
