Cataract Surgery after Vitrectomy

I am 3 months post op from Vitrectomy surgery and I am developing a cataract in the eye. My DR has said that the cataract is taking away about +2 vision and they normally don't operate on it until about +4. The vision is definetely blurry and sensitive to bright lights. My other eye is still perfect vision. The DR said to come back in 3 months and we can decide then. DR did say that if it was imparying my vision before that time, that they could do it sooner.
Is this normal to wait before removing the cataract.
Thanks

The "2+" is not an assessment of your vision, its a 4 point system (+ ++ +++ ++++) of grading the thickness and hardness of the cataract. Surgery is almost always based on how big of a problem you vision is for you. A small (+) cataract may be a big problem for a commercial pilot or truck driver while a 3+ cataract may not bother a person that doesn't drive and doesn't go out at night. A 4+ cataract is usually removed to prevent it from getting too ripe or because the risk of surgery is higher with very hard lens.

If you vision is enough of a problem you wish to have surgery and you don't want to wait then go back sooner otherwise discuss the issue again next visit.
