Cataract Surgery; light refraction after surgery

I am 68 years old and was recently examined and told that I could use cataract surgery in my left eye, and I agree that the vision in that eye is changing and I could benefit somewhat from having the surgery. However, I have know people that have had it and they have that reflective "mirror" thing going on in their eyes. Online, it talks about that, in addition to having dry eye after the procedure. I know that they are various lenses that can be used for this procedure, but people say that they are no better. My ophthalmologist tells me that the mirror effect is caused by either a poor surgery or the patient has large pupils. And, by the way, he's a good person with a good medical reputation. Any way to prevent the light refraction and dry eyes after surgery?

Mirror effect  is not caused by bad surgery. It's reflections off IOL easier seen with big pupils. Dry eyes not a part of it.  Talk to your surgeon about using a silicone IOL instead of an acrylic.

Thanks for your response, Dr. Hagan III. A quote from another opthalmologist says, "Of all the new "Premium IOLs" for cataract surgery it has been the Acrysoft Toric IOL that has been the most widely accepted and praised by cataract surgeons". Other problems after surgery apropo viewing bright lights (Xmas trees with lights, for instance) and other stuff that I've read online as well...It's confusing. I'm thinking that maybe I'll wait until I really can't see from that one eye.
Leave well enough alone might be the best road.
