Cataract surgery and veils

After two cornea transplants in my left eye due to keratoconus (the first graft was rejected after about 7 years) I had cataract surgery.  Since then I have had a (vitreous?) veil float across my eye on a continuing basis.  This, along with floaters, is annoying, distracting and compromises my vision.  I never seem to get a clear answer from my Opthamologist (who performed both the cornea surgeries and the cataract procedure) as to why this developed after the cataract surgery and whether or not we can do anything about it.

Generally people see more floaters after cataract surgery because the see better. Before the surgery due to reduced contrast sensitivity and reduced central vision the eye could not perceive the floaters, after vision these get better and the floaters (along with gray hair, wrinkles, receeding hairlines, and a lot of other things that people would prefer not to see become visibile.

There is not surefire way to get rid of floaters and by age 50 over half of all people have them.

Thank you for your comments.  What about that veil, though, that sweeps across my vision regularly?  That is the real annoyance and distraction.  What has caused that, and is there any gradual relief forthcoming?

Floaers like people come in all sizes and shapes. Some are irregular veil shaped.

You are going to need to learn how to tune them out and ignore them, just like people ignore seeing their nose and being aware of their glasses frames.
