Cataract surgery for an individual with Alzhemiers

My 75 year old wife is approaching the beginning of second stage Alhemizers.  Her Optometrist has recommended she have cataract surgery.  What are the medical concerns for conduction cataract surgery on individuals with Alzhemier's disease?

It varies. some AD patients are very cooperative, some need reassurance during the case, sometimes a family member is in the OR to talk to the person.  In combative and agitated AD patients general anesthesia is rarely needed.

It is often a good idea to do the surgery sooner than later especially if the AD is progressing
