Central distortion

Central distortion

I had filtration surgery 11 weeks ago.  Had a check up today by the srugeon, who found that the IOP went up in the reparied eye to 21.  Surgeon said several things might be done including going back on medications for glaucoma.  Having read about complications from filtration surgery I then suggested to HIM about removal of some sutures from the filtration operation.  He then said yes he could do that.  Laser procedure took a few minutes and my pressures went down to 12, in about 15 minutes after surgery.  I must admit being upset that i had to tell the surgeon about the laser option.

In discussion on my central vision distortion, I noted to the surgeon that it's like a veil, clear and can be seen thru, but it distorts the images slightly.  He said that's probably the glaucoma.  I question this diagnosis, because that veil like image looks like a floater.  This doctor is not inclined to spend any time explaining his analyses or any rebuttal of his opinions.  Is that translucent veil a symptom of glaucoma or could it be simply a vitreous veil?  I should note I'm also being treated for a minor macular edema in that eye, but the retinal specialist thinks the edema is nearly gone, via OCT tests.  Please advise if that translucent veil is only a sign of the glaucoma, and if not, what else can it be?  I note also that the location of the veil is right where I see a sprialing image when that eye is closed.  Why would glaucoma present itself that way when the eye is closed?  Help.  The distorted central image is causing me to wear a patch to stop its influence on my vision.

The retina surgeon would be the one to get a second opinion from and to help decide glaucoma or floater or edema.

I don't think your surgeon was not aware laser as a possibility.

Call your glaucoma surgeon tomorrow. I suspect he/she will want you to NOT wear a patch especially if it in anyway touches your eye where it could affect the results of surgery.
