Ch...I can't remember what it's called!

I was recently told that the lump under my right eye is...well, I can't remember, which makes it terribly difficult to find information on it.  I know that it started with a "ch" which made a noise like "sh" :P
Anyway, it is a lump that does not hurt and appeared before, subsided and come back, but will never really go away and I am now going to be going in for surgery to have it removed.  I Have Never Had Surgery Done Before, so please if you would understand that I would like more information on what they are removing.
Thank you, I am at my wits end.

A chalazion is an inflammation of the eyelids.  It can come and go.  Usually warm compresses can help it resolve faster, but if it does not clear up, surgery is usually recommended.  The chalazion is removed by lancing it through a very small opening.  Local anesthesia is given.  It is a fairly minor procedure.  You should discuss with your surgeon the technique he uses and his recommended post-operative care.
