Chalazion surgery steroid injection hypopigmentation

Bhv
Please can someone help me.  I had a very small Chalazion lower eyelid removed by incision 2 days ago.  My Chalazion had been getting smaller but then stopped and was small but still visible and the specialist I went to see said that if it has been there for over 6 months (which it had) then likely it will not go down any further and so convinced me to have it removed.  I asked about alternatives such as steroid or antibiotic and he said he actually does both incision and then inject it with steroid to help prevent any new ones.  Anyway....I had this done and he mentioned a light mark under the eye which is the steroid but will go away.   It is a very light line mark under the eye and now I am reading that steroid injections are not good for darker skinned people.  I a, Asian and am now extremely worried that I have hypopigmentation from the injectinand is this permanent or will it go away???   Pls help.

Thank you.  The surgeon is on holiday now for two weeks so I have booked a follow up on his return.  I also had a letter confirming the treatment which states he used a small bit of 'Kenalog to help with the swelling'.  Thanks again for your reply.

Sure happy to help. Odds are in your favor this will not be a permanent problem

The odds are it will go away and you will be fine. The steroid itself depending on whether a "depot" steroid or soluble steroid may take several weeks to go away. read about blepharitis and lid hygeine and lid cleaners such as Ocusoft Platinum Plus so you don't get more chalazia.

In the meantime is there anything I can do to help speed up the light mark to make the contents of the steroid go away?  Should I also get in touch with the surgeon to find out which type of steroid he used to be sure I won't get de pigmented skin.
I think you need some reassurance from your surgeon so I would call his/her office tomorrow. I don't think it likely you will have a problem.
My doctor recommended the steroid injection and I wanted to know if the hypo-pigmentation went away or not in your case. If it did, how much time did it take to go back to normal?
