Child's Eyes

My 2 year old son seems to have developed a sudden cross-eyed look.  He also seems to have balance concerns while walking.  We are taking him to the opthamologist this week, but could the two be related?  He was late meeting all his gross motor milestones, but is on target for all others.
We had not noticed any concerns with his eyes previous to last week, now he seems to go cross-eyed all the time.
Can this be a sudden development?

You should take your child to a pediatric ophthalmologist.

This usually does not occur suddenly.
