Cobweb still hanging around...

Cobweb still hanging around...

Hi,
I posted on here a few months ago about having a posterior vitreous detachment in my right eye. I had it checked after it happened, & my opthamologist said he didn't see a retinal detachment, come back as needed. Well, the detachment first happened around this past July, & I still have a large cobweb floater & a black dot floater in my eye. Some days it looks like it has faded slightly & isn't as noticeable. Other days it looks the same like there has been no change at all. I recently became a nurse, & this thing in my eye is annoying. Especially knowing that I have to administer medications, etc. soon w/ my new job. My questions are:

1. Should I go back to my eye doctor & let him check the detachment again, since some days it doesn't seem to have faded much?

2. Is it normal that the floater hasn't changed all that much since it happened almost 6 months ago?

Thanks,
T.A. LPN

Its not unusual. By age 50 half of people have PVD and floaters that they can see if they try to. There is no way to get rid of a floater. If you have flashes of light, shower of floaters loss of peripheral visual vision you need a recheck. If its just the same annoying floater that has been there 6 months then you don't.
