Coloured lines in vision?

Hi
This morning for about 20 mins I experienced something very similar to this from another user:"i'd see this strip of colored light flash in my vision. eventually, the colored strip of light would happen randomly for a second here and there, without a headache present. kinda looked like a prism of sorts, though thin, and linear." http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/373563

(I have however never had a migraine and never needed to wear glasses, 27 female, otherwise good health although have had a cold over the weekend)

First there was 1 line present in both eyes in around the same position and then there were progressively more in the right eye and after about 20mins they went away completely. The lines would stay in the same position in my field of view when I moved my eye or looked around eg. the initial 2 lines were always in the mid-upper right. The lines were horizontal, very thin but quite wide, stretching almost all the way as far as I could see to the right. I described it kind of like a thin line of coloured TV static but the prism description could fit as well.  It made it very difficult to read. I've had no problems since.

Is this something I should get checked out or put it down to "Monday-morning-itis"

Thank for your help, Sarah

This is a classic description of either a eye (ophthalmic) migraine or a TIA indigative of disease of the heart, eye, brain or blood vessels.

Use the search feature and read about 'TIAs and eye migraines.

See an Eye MD ophthalmologist to determine which you have.

the lines were in the same position the whole time, not coming and going like the other user!
