Retinitis pigmentosa is a
retinalFluorescein angiography
Retinal artery occlusion
Retinal detachment
Retinal detachment repair
Retinal dye injection problem where the photoreceptors start to degenerate. It can be associated with reduction in peripheral vision, night blindness, cataracts and reduced vision from macular edema. In most cases of RP, there is not much we can do to reduce the retinal deterioration. There have been some studies regarding high doses of certain vitamin A. The results of this study is controversial and you should not start treatment without discussing your perticular case with your eye doctor as treatment can have side effects. If vision is reduced from cataract, cataract surgery may help. Macular edema is a problem. If Diamox is not tolerated, you need to discuss potential other treatments with your retina specialist.
