Computer Glasses Off Center?

Computer Glasses Off Center?

I have now been wearing my new progressive computer glasses for almost one week. I have never worn glasses before and my prescription is not very strong. The concept of these glasses are sound but I am experiencing two problems;

1. When I look at my computer monitor it is not rectangular anymore, it's a trapezoid. The day after I got my glasses I explained this to my eye doctor and he said that it should go away in 1 to 2 weeks and occurs in 50% of people with these glasses. I have not been able to find any information online concerning this phenomena. So, is this common?

2. This problem actually bothers me much more and I do understand that there will be some zones in these progressive lenses that will not be in focus.....Anyway, the computer viewing portion of the lenses are at the top but in order for me to get the "sweet spot" for viewing I have to tilt my head down and point my nose towards the bottom left corner of the monitor and then rotate my eyes to the center of the monitor. This seems terribly unnatural?

If I look straight at the monitor and then move my head slightly to the right the left side of the screen becomes blurry immediately. If I look straight at the monitor and then move my head slightly to the left the right side of the screen stays in focus.

Since I have never worn glasses before I have no basis for comparison. Any ideas as to what is going on here?

Thanks.

If the glasses are not satisfactory for you please bring them back to the doctor's office and have a new pair made.  It's about that simple.  Consider trying to get a pair with a larger frame so the lens will be larger with larger working areas.  Sometimes the smaller, more trendy frames just don't have enough room for good optics.  Also consider a premium progressive lens like varilux..Usually, optical shops have a satisfaction guarantee of some sort.
