It can be for up to six months. Needs to be monitored every few weeks though to make sure all is OK.

note: while it had improved since my May 28, 2014 posting, but it's still not 100%...
Area of my eye still pink, and gets more red at night...it's been 3 months now. Bear in mind that the area excised was less than half a cm...(maybe 4mm).
Is this normal for such a small area of that size, to still show pink areas around the incision site? I'm getting frustrated and angry that my eye is not back to normal yet after all this time....my docotor won't be seeing me again until end of July (I've phoned multiple times). need a second opinion or reassurance that it will continue to improve.
Thank you for answer. My eye doctor doesn't seem to be monitoring it any further, I had called about 2 weeks ago to let her know it was still red, but she did not seem concerned and told me to use eyedrops to help the healing process along. I was not given a time frame as to when it would be completely healed. Initially, I was told there would be redness for about 3 weeks, and even when the redness persist after these weeks surpassed, my eye doctor did not mention how much longer it would take. I was simply told that "it would get better." I really hope it does! Thanks again for your response, it has helped to put me at ease a bit. I just hope to see some further improvement soon.
