Contact Lens Toric conversion

Someplace I read that some astigmatism could be corrected without Toric contacts, just a slightly higher power lens which may produce better results in some patients

I have a checkup in a few weeks and was wondering if its something I should ask my Optometrist

Contact now is
Biomedics Toric
-6.5
cyl -0.75
axis 80

what "could" a power in a aspheric lens be to equate to the toric one i presently use

or

with my Astygmatism its better to stay with a Toric lens

You need to put on the contact and have an over-refraction.

Thank You Dr Oyakawa

so I would try a standard -6.5 in place of the Toric -6.5 or would I increase the standard lens to a -7.0, -7.25 or -7.5 to compensate ?

You need to try an non-Toric lens in the office and compare the vision to your toric lens.  You have to decide if the difference is worth it.  Correcting astigmatism usually will give you better vision.  A standard contact lens can correct about 0.75 to 1.00 diopters of astigmatism.
