Contact lens problem( is it serious?)

Hi, I've worn contacts for 2 years now.
In september/october, my eyes would become really red after I took them off (never really that red when I had them on). The eye doctor said to take it easy on the contacts so I stopped wearing them for 2 weeks, tried to wear contacts again, same thing happened. I stopped wearing lenses and only wore glasses for pretty much up until February, and I tried to wear contacts again. Same problem. I would use eye drops to rid the redness each time, which would work. I am beginning to be a little worried that this is more than just a contact lens problem, and there might be something wrong with my eyes?
On a side note, there was a period of time during the fall where I would wake up and there would be a bunch of stuff on both of my eyes (like solid/liquid discharge, and then they would be really red in the morning). It eventually went away, but it was around the same time I started having this problem.
The lenses worked fine for the first 2 years I used them. They are acuvue oasis lenses.

Things change, People change, the older one gets the less likely contacts are to fit properly. You don't see many 60 year old people in contacts.

About 20% of our LASIK patients are having lasik because they lose the ability to wear contacts.

Stuff happens.

ive been wearing contact lenses for 10yrs. and recently ive switched to acuevue oasis and my eyes have become irritated and red everytime ive put them on. my eyes did not hurt and there has been discharge. ive gone seen a doctor and he recommended i stop wearing my contacts due to it caused an infection which was contagious. so i stopped using my contacts and within two week the doctor said i was fine to use them again. throw the old away and use a set of new ones. i began using them and again... can it be the brand? never has this happen before...

You will need to work through the various causes with an optometrist or ophthalmologist. BUT you may no longer be able to wear them. It happens often

I woke up washed my face and bam the left eye just got so red and veiny...I do wear contacts... From all the times I've abused my contacts last night was a pretty decent wear. for about 7 hours.. went to bed with normal looking eyes. I sometimes forget to get rid of the make up before bed.

It's just weird to me that it's one eye!

In my clinic today I saw an infected ulcer from bad contact wearing habits. He never had any problems before with sleeping in the contacts, wearing them longer than the disposable schedule recommended, swimming them etc. UNTIL one time he didn't get away with it.

Like passing another corner on a hill you may bet away with a lot but someday you will meet a truck coming the other way.
