Contact lenses-red eyes

I started wearing Acuvue Oasys contact lenses about 2 years ago until all of a suddent my eyes started getting bloodshot red after wearing my contacts. I wore them during the day and took them off at night, the next morning my eyes were very red.
I went to my doctor and he said I was allergic to the Silicone in the contact lenses. He gave me another type--my eyes are a little better but still not compleltey clear. They still get pink.
What should I do? Do you think it`s the contact lenses solution? Should I get a non-silicon contact lenses solution? Does anyone have any idea?
Have you ever heard of allergies to silicon that makes your eyes red?

I would listen to your doctor with regard to the allergies but if you do need a different type of solution:

I have the same type of lenses. After I developed a corneal ulcer I switched solutions to Sauflon. It is a hydrogen peroxide based solution that you have to let your lenses sit in for six hours in a vile. You can not use it in your eye.

Not everyone can wear contacts and people that have worn them for a long time can suddenly develop intolerance especially women as hormonal changes can make the eye sensitive.

Work with your fitter. If it doesn't work out then glasses or lasik might be you only choices.

You might try a 1-day disposable contact (like 1-day Acuvue Moist).  There's no need to soak them in solution--at the end of the day you just throw them in the trash.
