Contacts and Cornea Thickness

There was an experiment done and the results showed that Long term contact lense wear effects the corneal thickness of the eye negetively. The case showed aroung 1000 people wearing soft contacts properly and occaisonly for about 2 years and showed a decrease of corneal thickness by 24 microns.

I'm planning to get Lasik Surgery in 2 years should i refrain from wearing contacts because i do not want it to effect my corneal thickness?

Thank you

24 microns won't make a difference unless you are extremely nearsighted and are starting out with thin corneas; in that case you can have PRK where the corneal thickness is not nearly as much of an issue.
