Contacts causing a red ring in eye...

I got contacts this past March.  I wore them for about a month and everything seemed to be fine, and they were so comfortable I could barely even feel that I had contacts in my eyes.  Then by about mid-April my allergies started kicking in and my eyes became very red and my nose became congested, as they have done in previous years.  I stopped wearing my contacts for about two or three weeks and waited for the redness to clear up.  Then once my eyes were fine and my allergies were under control I tried wearing my contacts again.  Now whenever I wear my contacts I get this red ring around my iris, even after wearing them for a short two hours.  When wearing them my eyes are slightly irritated also.  I really want to be able to wear my contacts!  Any help please?

See an ophthalmologist to determine the cause of the problem.
