Contacts without Script?

Hello all, I am 18 and I have very good vision from what I am told. I don't wear contacts, and I don't have any problems with my eyes. I don't need glasses and I can see fine.

With that said....

I would like to get some contact lenses for appearance purposes only. I would you like some that make my eyes look entirely white, because I like the way they look when I see other people wearing them. I can find the lenses that I want online... Though everywhere I find needs a prescription.

I am asking if anyone knows of a website that does not require an eye exam and prescription to purchase novelty lenses. As I said, my vision is fine and does not need correction. It is purely appearance. Thank you for any replies in advance.

I live in Chicago, where an eye exam by an optometrist costs about $75.  My guess is that most docs would include a script for novelty contact lenses in this fee on request, especially if they want to keep your business.  I'm truly shocked by the fees charged in your area.  I'm really curious--where do you live?

I made some calls and received prices between 199usd and 250usd. I think I may take my business overseas where laws do not govern as strictly. Thank you for your assistance.

The best way to find out the fee is to call and ask. I live in a large city, and there are usually "special discounts" available at one of the large optical chains, i.e., Lenscrafter, Pearl, Sears, etc.  Some health insurance covers vision exams (but not most of them.)  Consider it an investment in your future health.

How much might it cost, I am curious. What do you speculate? Thank you.

If your glasses store has an in-house optometrist, I'm sure they'd be happy to set up an appointment for you.  It's a good idea to have an eye exam periodically, so I'd consider it money well spent.

Thank you for your reply. How might I go about getting in touch with an optometrist? Go down to the local glasses store and speak with an associate about getting checked out?

Thanks again.

You are only 18 and have lots of years left to enjoy your very good vision.  Why risk losing it over some novelty lenses.  Get a script from an optometrist (or ophthalmologist) and follow his/her instructions about lens care.
