Convergence Insuffiency Binocular dysfunction

Convergence Insuffiency Binocular dysfunction

I have an ongoing problem with my vision which only started about four years ago.   I have already been seen at two neurologists (when the problem started), tried many pairs of glasses (at my regular eye doctor), and have even done optometric vision therapy (physiological eye muscle problem) and have new glasses.  I thought I was doing better and my eyes didn't hurt or cross; but recently I'm having problems again.  I continue to do the computer eye exercises and even with that, my eyes hurt and cross. The light hurts my eyes (esp. the computer screen light).   My optomologist suggested trying paste on prisms.  I used to have prisms for years and then about 4 years ago; a new eye doctor said I didn't need them any more.   In May,  I was again, back at my developmental optometrist and she tested my eyes for prisms and she didn't think they helped when she had me try, in her office, using equipment.   I am at a loss.  I can't do my job when my eyes go out.  Can you give me any ideas or do you need more information?  I know I keep thinking "why did he take out the prisms" ---and then when the developmental optometrist tried them in her office --she didn't think they helped.  Help !!  Thank you.

I can't answer your question about why one did one thing and the other something different. I do suggest you see a pediatric ophthalmologist. If its this complex you may need to consider eye surgery. Find an Eye MD strabismus specialist at www.aao.org

Your symptoms could be consistent with a form of binocular vision dysfunction called Vertical Heterophoria. Check out this web site for more information:
