Corneal Scar

Corneal Scar

Dear Sir / Madam
Please would you be kind enough to help me. Around 10 years ago I developed a severe scar causing an infection in my eye. As a result of this infection I was left with a corneal scar directly in front of my pupil. After the scar I found that my uncorrected vision improved quite a lot in the effected eye, in other words I started to see distance objects with greatly clarity.

I wanted to undergo laser eye surgery, and went to a consultant to see if I was a suitable candidate for Laser eye surgery. Unfortunately because of this scar they could not perform this surgery.

My question to you is: Can this scar be removed / treated since I really want to have laser eye surgery which can only
be performed if the scar is removed. I will consider ANY treatment you can advise me to remove the scar, even a lens implant.

My prescription details are as follows: both my left and right eyes are -3.00 with astigmatism of -1.00 diopters.
With contact lenses my vision is 6/6 in both left and right eyes.

Please would you be kind enough to reply to me as a a matter of urgency. Once again I thank you very much and I
look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks very much
Bal

Depending on how deep the corneal scar is, there may be ways to remove it.  This however, does not make you a better candidate for laser vision correction.  I would not recommend you get the laser correction after a vision altering corneal scar as multiple complications could arise.  Please consult with a well known cornea specialist in your area for an exam and opinion in this regard.
