Corrective Surgery

Corrective Surgery

I've had both cataract and glaucoma surgery done a little over  two years ago in both eyes. Everything was fine, until this past January, when I noticed occasional pain in my left eye, like someone sticking needles in it, sharp pain, that would come and go. My vision became blurred in the same eye, at the same  time, , as though I am needing stronger glasses. Two different visits, I was given a new eyeglass prescription, which didn't really help much.

After five visits since the start of this problem, my glaucoma specialist determined that the problem is my bleb, from the glaucoma surgery, is " growing" over my eye, which is wrinkling, or, mishaping my cornea, which in turn, is blurring my vision, both close up and distance.
My two options: 1) leave it alone, and live with it ( not a good option, in my case), as I'm just about to the point where the vision is so blurred, I can't function, both close up and distance. I can barely see to drive a car. I can barely see this print as I'm  typing it,
2) Corrective surgery.  She is fairly confident she can correct it, by peeling back the bleb, and using other tissue in my eye, to bring up.
She said this rarely happens to her glacoma patients, but, it happened to me, in one eye.

My question, she said she is 100 percent sure this is my problem, but, could it be something else? Like maybe a filter or something inside the bleb, that could be clogged?  She diagnosed me in just a few minutes, each time, last two visits.

I can't be sure without examining your eye myself, but it sounds very possible.  The only problems with doing surgery to fix it is it may cause the bleb to fail and lose the effectiveness for the glaucoma.  Ask her what the chances of that are.  But it seems you have no choice if you are as blurry as you state.
