Crossing Eyes

Hello,

I am hoping you can help me and provide some answers.  For the past 5 or so years I have suffered chronic dry eyes. I have been seeing a opthlamologist who diagnosed me with not producing enough tears. Originally, I saw my doctor because of the dry eyes but also mainly because of the change in my vision. I told her that my vision becomes blurry when trying to focus on people. When I say this I mean when I am in conversation and looking  a person in the eye my eyes seem to become slightly blurry and I blink to try an adjust but my vision or my eyes seem to cross. Probably not explaining this well but it seems as though one of my eyes will focus more than the other (right eye) and the other eye (left eye) will turn in. I notice it and people with whom I am speaking notice it because they seem to favor one eye over the other when looking at me. It is very fustrating and embarrassing because I my vision never affected me this way before. It is as if I am slowly developing crossed or lazy eyes. It is progressively get worse every day. I spoke with my doctor and she told me to continue using the eye drops because she did not she any problems with my eyes other than dry tear ducts. I am at wits end because I know something is not right and I don't know what to do. Can you please offer me some suggestions on what to do or what tests can be performed? Please help!

If you are in your late 30s or early 40s, you may be having focusing issues and may need glasses.  As an adult it is very unlikely to develope new onset eye crossing that was not there before.  Have a person close to you tell u whether your eyes truly do cross or not.  It should be simple for your ophthalmologist to check for this.
