After discussing with my surgeon again I have opted for the Crystalens AO in both eyes. My astigamatism is moderate so a toric lens was not an option. My surgeon performs laser cataract removal and will create corneal incisions to reduce my astigatism. I am hopeful I can post a success story. After doing more reasearch on what experiences other surgeons have used I feel good about this decision.
I have researched thiscwebsite and only find negative comments on crystalens; however most comments are prior to 2011 does this mean maybe there have been improvements with the lens in 2013??
My bro-law had the Crystalens implants for his cataract surgery last year in Michigan. Cost him about $5K out of pocket, but he loves them and would do it again in a heartbeat.
His only problem was the cataracts, so I can't comment on the vitrectomy pros/cons.
Good luck, and keep us informed on your decision.
The success of presbyopia correction IOL depends on patient selection and the experience of the doctor. I believe that Crystalens or Trulign (astigmatism correcting Crystalens) is your only choice for a presbyopia correcting IOL. A multifocal IOL would not be a good choice due to your macular problems.
Crystalens is my first choice for a presbyopia correcting IOL. I have one in my left eye.
Find an experienced Crystalens doctor in your area.
