Crystalens

by Hijack4242, Feb 26, 2009 03:32PM
I had cataract surgery done in both eyes in Nov and Dec and have floaters that create a veil and that make me have to blink and focus. When I sit in front of the computer and look from left to right I see the veil move the same way. Not sure if this will ever go away.
I too have a ghost when I'm in the theater and see a face i see a shadow or ghost to the top of the persons face. When I'm driving I see the shadow on letters in signs which makes the words look blurred and not sharp. I have to hold something at arms length to see it clear.
My one eye tears alot. Not sure why. My doctor said to come back in april and they might try lazer. I also see lots of halos. That was the reason I did this in the first place and was never told about the ghosts. Only that there was a chance that I would still need glasses. Never anything about the veil that floats in front of my eyes, the ghosts or the halo's. I too am not happy to of spent this kind of money with such poor results. Now that I have read what others have written I am afraid to take anything that will cause a detached retina. I would not recommend this to anyone and want to be advised if there is a class action. ***@****

The veil is vitreous floaters.  These are common after cataract surgery and not related to the Crystalens.

The ghosting may be due to a residual refractive error.  The halos should resolve with time or may be due to posterior capsule opacification.  This can be treated by a yag laser.

Clearly you are not happy with the results.  However, there are always many reasons for this.  Most can be treated if you work with your doctor.  I am sure he told you that getting the best possible result might require laser (PRK or LASIK) or LRI touch up, and a YAG laser.

Thank you for all your information and I will consult with a doctor.

Can you advise if anything can be done for Vitreous floaters?

What my doctor told me is that there might be scar tissue and that can happen from 2 weeks to 2 years but with a laser treatment it would be corrected.

When I say ghosting what I see is lettering with a dimential effect at the top of the letter It seems to behalf inch higher then the actual letter. I also see that effect on stage when I go to the theater. It's the actors face and I don't see sharp. it seems to go away when I squint. The same for the lights on the back of cars when I'm driving. They are not sharp unless I squint. Is that what they call ghosting?
when I'm at a computer I see the letters ok and notice no ghosting. Can this problem be corrected?
