Crytalens reading vision

Crytalens reading vision

I had crystalens surgery in both eyes about a month ago. I am only in my mid-40's so I chose to go with these lenses. My doctor said that with these lenses I would be able to read without glasses but I am not finding this to be true. I cannot read without glasses. I cannot see the computer screen without glasses. Does this improve? I haven't seen any improvement and at this point I would not recommend the added expense of having these lenses.

I need to know what your cycloplegic refraction is.  Most likely, you are off target or have  residual astigmatism.

I am not sure which number refers to my cycloplegic refraction but the following are on both cards for the lenses that I have:
Crystalens HD 520
Diopter: 13.00
Optic Dia: 5.0
Overall Dia: 12.0
My doctor suggested I get 1.25 glasses at the drugstore while my eyes 'learn' to read, but I am needing them for almost everything I do, except distance vision, and I see no improvement. The surgery was 2/11/09 and 2/25/09 for each eye.

I'm sorry to read about your disappointing (so far, anyway) outcome.  Dr. Oyakawa wants to know whether you are currently slightly nearsighted or farsighted or have some astigmatism.  This would be determined by an eye exam (refraction), preferrably when your pupils were dilated.  If you want his input on possibilities for improving your near/intermediate vision, you'll probably have to get this info from your surgeon's office (provided such a refraction was done).  If it was not done, you might want to request a cycloplegic refraction, and then ask for the results.  You can post them and get some expert feedback.

My name is Erik and live in Norway.
I am 47 and get Crystalens implanted Mai 11 2009 in my left eye.
I have exactly same problem you describe Mars 18.

Have your near vision improved, or it is still as described.
I hope it have been better, so it also a hope that my near vision will approve

Best regards
Erik
