DIALATING EYES

My 10 year old daughter has experienced eye pain for the last 2 days, it started with not being able to see up close, her eyes were real red, they are also dialated and will not go away, i took her to her doctor and they refered us to an opthimologist, her vision was 20/50, she has always had 20/20. i took her to the opthimologist and he siad her eyes look normal but they are staying dialated as if he put drops in her eyes, also they did not respond to the light test he performed, he basically said he didnt know and sent her home with some drops. I do not give her meds, all she takes if tylenol. her eyes still bother her, most of the pain is in the right eye but they are both dialated the same.

I'm sorry, but if your ophthalmologist could not figure out what was going on after seeing her in  person, I don't think I can be much help from afar.  Just a thought - if she can't see up close and eyes are dilated - those are both symptoms of dilating drops that we use in our offices.  Is there any chance you or someone in your house has had eye surgery and had drops around with a red top (dilating drops.)  Perhaps she used some by mistake??  Perhaps she is having side effects from something like tylenol cold or sudafed?? or a motion sickness patch???  Even Visine can make eyes dilated.  Now if none of those things then there could be some type of real problem.  If problem has not resolved, I suggest  you call your ophthalmologist in the morning an express your concerns and have eyes looked at again.

thanks for the comment, but no one has eye drops and she hasnt taken any medicine, she has been back to the doctor three times and still doesnt know, she had her cat scan this moring so we are just waiting for results.
