DOUBLE VISION

DOUBLE VISION

I started having double vision back in September of this year. I went to the doctor and he ordered tests for diabetes, thyroid, myasthenia gravis, and a mri. All of these tests were found to be normal. I then went to another doctor where I was told that I had a third or fourth cranial nerve palsy. The double vision has pretty much disappeared but my eyes still have problems focusing in that I have to tilt my head up or down to try and see more clearly. I went back to the doctor today and have now been referred to a neurologist. Has anyone else experienced this and what was done to fix this problem? Thanks.

When all tests have been exhausted and no cause is found for a 4th or 3rd nerve paralysis the most common conjectured cause is a very small stroke or vascular insult in the brainstem.  So if you smoke, doe not exercise, are overweight, have highblood pressure, high cholesterol, have diabetes best attend to them quickly as this can be a warning from your body to "take better care of me".

See a strabismus/pediatric ophthalmologist to discuss your options regarding surgery or prism glasses.  In the USA you can find one at www.aao.org

i also had that medical procedure. my MRI and MRA are normal. my neurologist referred me to a neuro-optha and asked me to have surgery to cut muscles on my left eye.
the diagnosis is left lateral palsy. its been 3 years and i just got conscious when my diplopia is noticeable.
