Daily recovery after retinal detachment surgery

While recovering from retinal detachment surgery, what are people doing on a daily basis?  And, I work a light labor job, lifting approximately 20lbs at a time, when are people able to return to work such as this?  I am now 3 days post surgery.

Thank you,
Jack

I had retina detachment surgery 4 months ago today.  For the first few weeks I didn't lift anything--I wasn't even allowed to take the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer except one at a time and I also couldn't lean over.  Because I work at a desk I was allowed to go back to work after 3 weeks and I am very careful about what I lift even now.  It was not fun being at home for 3 weeks and not being able to do anything!  I would just be very careful and not rush things--your eyesight is very important and very fragile now.
