Dark spot in vision after strain

Dark spot in vision after strain

I was doing a strenuous exercise when all of a sudden my right eye was not the same.  It's been 4 days since I did a strenuous exercise and the dark spot in middle of my vision does not clear up.  It's a pretty decent size spot and in this spot it's slightly blurry.  So when I look at sentences with both eyes the words seem to pop out of the paper (it really bothers me).  I went to the ophthalmologist and he inspected my eye and said the tiny area in my eye is inflamed, due to strain, which is causing the dark blurred vision.  He also said it isn't too bad and it MIGHT go away or it might not and his advice was don't use too much power then he just let me go.  I was so disappointed with his answer.
Well my question is: is he right when he said "it might go away or it might not"?  I need a more clear cut answer than "it might."  What is your diagnosis and will the dark spot disappear?  How long will it take to disappear?  Will I need surgery if it doesn't clear up or gets worse?

Please call your ophthalmologist and ask what the diagnosis is.  If none can be given, then get a second opinion.  I certainly cannot diagnose you from just a one or two sentence description.  Some possibilities that entered my mind were central serous chorioretinopathy or a retinal hemorrhage or a large vitreous floater.
