Daughter has hyperopia

My daughter who is 6 yrs old  was recently diagonised for  Hyperopia , Astigmatism and amblyopia. she has been prescribed  + 4  & +3.75  glasses . Doctor has  also  prescribed  patch for  one eye .   My  self and my  husband  were totally shocked  when we  came to know this  .   She is able to  read  and write   well just very normal   . The only visible  symptom we saw was  the  dark  circle under her eyes . She never complained of  Blur in her vision .
is it good to go  go a second opinion

If you saw a Eye MD physician ophthalmologist I would see no need to spend the extra time and money for a second opinion.

If you saw a non-MD, non-physician optometrist then yes I would see an Eye MD ophthalmologist, ideally a pediatric ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org or ask your GP or Pediatrician to refer you.

This points out the importance of having children checked about age 3 by an ophthalmologist to look for eye muscle problems and amblyopia.  These problems affact one out of 50 children. At your daughter's age it will be difficult to increase the vision in the amblyopic eye.  Any other children, nieces, nephews should be checked even if they seem "normal" there is a strong tendency for these problems (strabismus) to run in families.
