Diagnosed with myopia and astigmatism after a heavy study

Hello, i am a 19 year old student who had recently undertaken some important school examinations. My last examination was on the 31st of January but i noticed that something was wrong with my eyes around the 22-23 of January.
During the weekend i went for a check up to a doctor, and we found out that i have 0.25 myopia in both of my eyes(i already had 0.25 on my right eye for over a year now) and and 0.50 astigmatism in both of my eyes. Well, what i think might have cause this is the following. From mid december to mid January i was studying for 6-7 hours per day having my book right in from of my face( approximately a distance of 15cm from eyes).
My doctor recommended me to rest for the next month to allow my eyes to rest and focus at things that are at a distance from me.Then i will have a test again to see if this has subsided.
So is this enough?Shall i do anything else to treat my self? I know that 0.25 myopia is like nothing to some, but having a perfect vision up the age of 19 and then having myopia is a bit annoying

1. That glasses RX found on your eye is extremely tiny and very few people wear glasses for that little of refractive error.
2. A link between close work and the development of myopia has been studied for over a 100 years and a definite link is NOT established.
3. Do you studies, make good grades and make a good life for yourself. If your eyes get tired give them 10-15 minutes rest. It's no different than going for a long walk, at some point your legs get tired and you want to sit down and give them a rest; you clearly understand the walk doesn't damage the legs. Same deal with your eyes.
4. Be sure you are seeing an Eye MD ophthalmologist lest you end up with glasses you don't need.
